Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of Cicero's "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (45 BC). The scrambled text was made popular in the 1960s with Letraset sheets and later by desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker.
